On Sunday, the US State Department ordered non-essential diplomats at the US embassy in Chad to leave, due to possible rebel attacks on the capital, N’Djamena.
“Given their increasing proximity to N’Djamena and the potential for violence in the city, the order was issued for non-essential US government employees to leave Chad on commercial flights,” the State Department said in a statement.
Preliminary results of the elections showed that President Idriss Déby is on his way to extend his three-decade rule.
The US embassy in Libya confirmed, in a statement last Thursday, that the FACT rebels had entered Chad from Libya.
It is worth noting that Khalifa Haftar used mercenaries from Chad to launch his aggression against Tripoli in April 2019, and used them to control the oil fields.
