On Friday, the Security Council called on the Libyan authorities and institutions related to the elections, including Parliament, to clarify the constitutional base on which the elections will be held by next July.
The Security Council added during its session today that the July date is in order to allow sufficient time for the commission to prepare for the elections, calling for the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum to take steps to conduct the elections if necessary.
It is worth noting that the President of the High Elections Commission, Imad al-Sayeh, announced last January that next July is the deadline for agreement on a constitutional base for the elections.
