The Director of the Media Office at the Food and Drug Control Center, Mohamed Al-Zayat, said in a statement to Arraed Saturday that the Russian vaccine shipment is not rejected, but rather is suspended until the bulletin on the method of its operation arrives in the English language.
Al-Zayat explained that the shipment is kept in the cold stores of Zawia Street Hospital, according to the required specifications, at 18 degrees Celsius below zero, pointing out that this procedure is in place according to Law 106, which requires that the leaflet of medicines and medical equipment be written in the English language.
Al-Zayyat added that the center will conduct an analysis called toxicological analysis on lab mice for the shipment that arrived Friday. Just to make sure of the extent of its danger only, noting that it too, did not have the explanatory leaflet in English.
Al-Zayat concluded his statement that according to what the government had reported to them, explanatory bulletins would arrive today or tomorrow, and that after the results of the toxicological tests appeared, shipments of the vaccine would be released immediately.
It is worth noting that the Director General of the Food and Drug Control Center, Mohamed Hassan, said last Monday in a letter to the Prime Minister, that the center will not be able to complete the control procedures for the shipment of “Sputnik” anti-Corona vaccine that arrived in Libya, until it addresses the Russian manufacturer, to make sure that the aforementioned operation bulletin belong to it.
