President of the Presidential Council, Muhammad Al-Manifi, announced the establishment of the High National Reconciliation Commission. “To unite all Libyans, obtain reparation for harm, and achieve justice among them, as guaranteed by the law.”
Al-Manifi expressed – during a press conference – on Monday, his hope for reaching the most important achievement, which is the elections on December 24, and “reaching what everyone aspires to, which is the peaceful transfer of power.”
For his part, Vice President Abdullah Al-Lafi said that the commission will consist of a president and six members in an organizational structure that includes a group of committees working to meet citizens in their cities, and a special committee to discuss the situation of the displaced.
Al-Lafi added that choosing the members of the Reconciliation Commission is very important for the success of its work, indicating that they will work to form a technical and advisory committee to deal with issues that may disagree with the commission’s members.
Al-Lafi stressed that the Presidential council will not leave the file of those involved in crimes against humanity, and they will be referred to the judiciary, to punish everyone who harmed any Libyan.
For his part, Vice President of the Presidency Council, Musa Al-Koni, said that the work of the Commission is not linked to the elections, and may continue for years, stressing that the election date is next December not subject to postponement, and that there is no voice above the voice of elections, urging media professionals to educate citizens about the elections at every moment.
