The army forces receive modern artillery training.

Turkish forces in Libya are training Libyan army personnel to operate modern self-propelled artillery systems of the type “Fretina-T caliber 155”.

These guns are one of the latest weapons in NATO countries, and they were established with the help of South Korea on the basis of the “Thunder – K9” self-propelled guns – according to the Russian agency, Sputnik.

The agency added that this electronic equipment provides high-level automatic control for targeting operations, explaining that the launcher can hit targets at distances of up to 40 km. The maximum rate of fire is 6 shells per minute.

And the Turkish Ministry of Defense announced last January 27 that the training of 1,300 members of the Libyan army forces had been completed in 18 different programs, while 1,100 others were still receiving training in centers inside Libya.

It is worth noting that the Turkish and Libyan sides signed, on November 27, 2019, two memoranda of understanding related to security and military cooperation, and to define areas of maritime jurisdiction, with the aim of protecting the rights of the two countries stemming from international law.
