AFRICOM: The presence of the Wagner in Libya undermines the peace process and they must leave the Libyan lands immediately.

The US Air Force Colonel and Director of Public Affairs at AFRICOM, Christopher Karns, said Thursday that the United States of America is concerned about the role Russia is playing through the Wagner Group in Libya.

In an interview with the Middle East, Karnes added that groups like the “Wagner” group continue to undermine progress and continue to interfere in the Libyan peace process in particular, and the role it plays in the African continent in general.

“Karns” affirmed that “AFRICOM” continues to oppose foreign military intervention in Libya, and supports the ceasefire agreement and the immediate withdrawal of foreign military forces and mercenaries, and the urgent need for Russia’s proxy forces to leave, which is estimated at about two thousand fighters from “Wagner” in Libya.

Karns indicated that the “Wagner” continues to seek to win and advance its own interests, which are often at the expense of the African countries that employ them.

It is worth noting that the US military command in Africa “AFRICOM” confirmed in July last year that Russia and the mercenaries of “Wagner” would continue to participate in ground and air operations in Libya
