The American administration of President “Joe Biden” has suspended the sale of weapons to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and F-35 fighters to the United Arab Emirates, as part of the review of a decision taken during the term of former President Donald Trump,

A State Department official told France Press on Wednesday that arms sales are a routine administrative measure taken by the majority of new administrations, explaining that its purpose is for the arms sales carried out by the United States to meet their strategic goals.

The official stated that the decision remains surprising because it includes especially the precision munitions promised to Saudi Arabia and the F-35 fighters sold to the UAE in exchange for the recognition of the Gulf state of the State of Israel under the auspices of “Donald Trump.”

The official explained that US arms companies such as Raytheon Technologies and Lockheed Martin are manufacturing weapons for Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates.

The Wall Street Journal reported that the suspension would affect arms sales to the UAE and Saudi Arabia.

In a related context, the new US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken pledged to put an end to American support for the Saudi-led military campaign in Yemen.
