The UN envoy to Libya, Stephanie Williams, warned on Wednesday, Libyan politicians against trying to bypass the Libyan Political Forum and create parallel bodies to it.
In an interview with the British newspaper, The Guardian, Williams said: The political class extending across conflict lines between East and West in Libya is determined to maintain the status quo and privileged access to state coffers.
“Williams” added that the dialogue forum has constituencies that have not entered the peace process since the revolution, stressing that it is a purely Libyan dialogue.
And “Williams” indicated that Al-Sarraj’s decision to establish the Stability Support body sparked rumors that he might work to challenge the legitimacy of the outcomes of the political dialogue forum.
It is worth noting that the members of the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum agreed on the proposal of a mechanism for selecting the executive authority by 73%, and these results were welcomed locally and internationally, hoping to continue until the nomination of a new presidential council and prime minister.
