Member of Parliament Mohammed Al-Ra’aid said that the visit of Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha to Cairo is an excellent step in the framework of restoring common relations between Libya and Egypt.
Al-Ra’aid added in – statements to Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper – Friday, that the visit is supported by many parties and segments in the capital, Tripoli, and focused on the security situation and cooperation in the field of combating terrorism.
Al-Ra’aid indicated that everyone here understands that strengthening relations and opening horizons of cooperation will take place while respecting the rule of non-interference in internal affairs.
Al-Ra’aid denied what was rumored about the purpose of Bashagha’s visit to promote his person as a possible candidate for the next government, describing this as false talk, stressing that only the participants in the Tunis Dialogue will choose any leading figure, and there is no relation to any country or even the UN mission on who will be chosen.
It is worth noting that Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha visited Cairo last Tuesday, in a step that was his first since assuming the duties of the Ministry of Interior.
