The results of the “5 + 5” agreements are emerging on the ground, from the ceasefire to Russian statements to withdraw mercenaries.

The agreements of the Military Dialogue Committee 5 + 5 began to be implemented step by step, as expected, through the ceasefire in Libya, the departure of mercenaries, the withdrawal of all militias supporting the aggression on Tripoli, the opening of the land crossings and airspace between the eastern and western regions and securing them with coordination to exchange prisoners, restructuring the Petroleum facilities guards and stopping hate speech.

Despite the collusion of the Russian bear in supporting Haftar’s militias, they retreated, and confirmed that Libya suffers from the presence of foreign forces and companies on its soil, and they must all leave at once for the country to stabilize.

The Russian representative to the United Nations, “Vasily Nebenzia,” according to, a press statement, referred to the importance of the dialogue supervised by the Special Representative of the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Acting Head of the United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Stephanie Williams, calling for the need to reach real understandings about the successor to Williams in Its mission.

The “Wagner” mercenaries, which participated in the first appearance of the Tripoli aggression in October 2019, retreated with their full equipment, even from the ports and oil fields that they controlled, causing losses estimated at 10 billion dollars, according to the National Oil Corporation.

Comprehensive political dialogue

The Russian Foreign Ministry confirmed on October 25 that the signing of the Libyan ceasefire agreement in Geneva is an important step towards resolving the protracted crisis, and that it will enable the establishment of a comprehensive and sustainable political dialogue with the ultimate goal of restoring the country’s unity and establishing unified governmental institutions.

Efforts of the Mission

The UN mission has identified several stations for the Libyan dialogue that began with consultative meetings and preliminary meetings before reaching the site of the political forum for the Libyan dialogue, to be held from 2 to 4 November in the city of Ghadames, confirming its condition on those invited to participate in the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum, to refrain from holding any political or sovereign positions in any new arrangement for executive power.

The mission stressed that it is keen to highlight the common demand of the Libyans to end the transitional period, hold national elections, and choose an effective executive authority that can provide basic services to the Libyan people.
