Al-Sarraj calls for the dialogue committee to expedite the formation of a new executive authority.

The President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, called: Friday, the dialogue committee entrusted with forming the new executive authority to carry out its historical responsibility away from personal or regional interests and to expedite the formation of this authority, and to place the national interest above any other consideration.

This came during a telephone conversation that took place between him and German Foreign Minister Heiko Maas, in which Maas, on behalf of the German Chancellor Angela Merkel, asked Al-Sarraj to stay in his position and perform his duties throughout the period of talks between the Libyan parties.

Al-Sarraj said during the conversation that the exit of all the current faces from the scene will help find a way out of the crisis. Reaffirming the need for the arrangements of the 5 + 5 military committee agreement to ensure that Libyan cities and vital sites are not exposed to any future threat.

The two sides agreed on the importance of the political track meetings leading to presidential and legislative elections as soon as possible, expressing concern over the interference of foreign powers seeking to share areas of influence in Libya, and that a solution would be possible in a way that preserves Libya’s unity and sovereignty if foreign interference stops.

The conversation also dealt with a review of the repercussions of the spread of the Corona pandemic, in the two countries, the preventive and precautionary measures taken to prevent the spread of the virus, and the importance of coordination to face its risks.

It is worth noting that the President of the Presidency Council announced on the 16th of last September his intention to resign from his post by the end of this October.
