The US ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland, said that his country had held consultations with Egypt, Turkey and other international partners to look for practical ways to support the Libyan Political Dialogue Forum.
Norland added – in an interview with Al-Sharq Al-Awsat newspaper – Friday, that he encourages Egypt and Turkey to consult directly with each other as a way to avoid miscalculations and build cooperation for their common interest in Libya being a stable and secure country as he said.
Norland emphasized that the “Wagner” group is acting on behalf of the Russian government, and its activities help destabilize Libya, noting that the staying of any armed groups, including the “Wagner”, will only undermine confidence-building measures between the Government of National Accord and Haftar’s militias.
It is worth noting that the US ambassador in Libya, in mid-October, visited Egypt and Turkey to discuss a settlement of the Libyan crisis.
