International and local welcome to the signing of the ceasefire agreement between the delegations of the Joint Military Committee “5 + 5”.

The talks of the delegations of the “5 + 5” military committee at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva, Switzerland, which began last Monday in its fourth round, under the auspices of the United Nations mission in Libya, culminated in the signing of an agreement that included several items, most notably the ceasefire and the departure of all mercenaries from Libyan lands within a maximum period of 3 months, this agreement received a wide local and international welcome.

European welcome

After announcing the signing of the agreement, the European Union welcomed the “5 + 5” joint military committee reaching a ceasefire agreement in Libya.

A significant development

The Italian government welcomed the agreement of the Military Commission “5 + 5” on a permanent ceasefire, considering it a development of critical importance for the stability of Libya.

Moscow welcomes

For his part, the Chargé d’Affairs of the Russian ambassador to Libya, Jamshid Poltayev, said that Moscow welcomes the signing of a ceasefire agreement in Libya.

Phantom of war

The Presidential Council of the Government of National Accord said that the ceasefire agreement stops bloodshed and removes the specter of war from the Libyans.

In an official statement published on the occasion of the liberation anniversary, the Council affirmed that it would not neglect the issue of accountability and would be no tolerance with those who committed crimes against the Libyans.

No escalation

The Egyptian Foreign Ministry welcomed the ceasefire agreement, calling on the countries concerned with the Libyan issue to ensure that there is no escalation.

An important step

The head of the Justice and Construction Party, Mohamed Sawan, welcomed the signature of the “5 + 5” committee members of the final ceasefire agreement, considering it an important step to stop the bloodshed of the Libyans.

On his personal Facebook page, Sawan said that he hopes to close the doors on military solutions and block the way to the continued presence of mercenaries and the interventions that threaten Libya’s wealth and lands.

Sawan stressed that this agreement is a fundamental pillar to push the success of the other tracks of dialogue, which must follow quickly to achieve a comprehensive settlement, appreciating the role of all parties participating in the dialogue and the role of the UN mission in sponsoring it, and we call on the Security Council to ensure that the parties adhere to the agreement.

The entire Libyan soil

In the same context, the United States Embassy in Libya welcomed the signing of the permanent ceasefire in all of Libya, which took place during the talks of the “5 + 5” joint military committee in Geneva.

An essential step

The Secretary-General of the United Nations, “António Guterres,” considered the Libyan agreement in Geneva an essential step towards peace in Libya, and thanked all the countries that supported the agreement.

Guterres stressed that there is no military solution in Libya and the ceasefire agreement is a very important step.

The path of a comprehensive political solution

The Qatari Foreign Ministry welcomed the announcement by two delegations of the signing of the “5 + 5” joint military commission agreement in Geneva, to cease fire, hoping that it would be a step forward on the road to a comprehensive political solution.

War does not build a country

In the same context, Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha said the ceasefire agreement is conclusive evidence that war does not build a country and that peace is the only way to the nation’s unity, pride and dignity.

In a tweet, the Minister of Interior congratulated the Libyan people on this national achievement, and we strongly support everything that stops bloodshed and achieves security, stability and well-being for Libyans.

A reason for security and stability

The commander of the field room for the Volcano of Anger operation, Ahmed Abo Shahma, welcomed the 5 + 5 committee members ’signing of the ceasefire agreement, stressing that it would be a cause for security and stability on all Libyan soil.

The Supreme Council of State welcomed the signing of the “5 + 5” committee under the auspices of the United Nations Mission in Geneva, hoping that the agreement would achieve stability and security in Libya and stops the bloodshed of its people.
