Hawaili: The failure of the Cairo meeting was due to the Tobruk deputies’ insistence on amending the draft constitution.

On Thursday, a member of the Supreme Council of State, Abdulqader Hawaili, attributed the reason for the failure of the Cairo meeting between the Supreme Council and Tobruk deputies to the fact that the deputies insist on making an amendment to the draft constitution before its implementation, and this is contrary to the constitutional declaration.

Hawaili explained in a statement to Arraed that the constituent commission for drafting the constitution will not be able to meet, and if it convenes, it will not complete or it will take a long time to achieve the amendments , and in the end it may not be accepted or objected to as happened now – according to him -.

It is worth noting that members of the Supreme Council of State, Tobruk deputies and the constituent commission to draft the constitution met last Saturday in Cairo, to discuss ending the transitional phase and drafting a legal agreement that would guarantee consensual constitutional arrangements.
