Boritta: Bo Zniqa’s results are an important step to break the the political deadlock in Libya.

Moroccan Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Boritta said that the results of the Libyan dialogue in the Moroccan city of Bo Zniqa represent an important step that would turn the stalemate that lasted for several years into a real momentum.

“The big step forward in the Bo Zniqa talks was the desire and commitment of the Libyans to sit together and discuss ways to get out of the current political impasse,” Boritta added in statements, Wednesday.

Boritta expressed his satisfaction that the delegations of the Supreme Council of State and the Tobruk Parliament for the first time reached a comprehensive agreement on transparent and objective criteria and mechanisms for occupying the sovereign positions.

Boritta explained that the discussions took place between representatives of institutions that derive their legitimacy from the Skhirat Agreement of 2015, which remains a valid Libyan framework that representatives of the country can update, adapt and amend.

Boritta confirmed the two delegations’ agreement to continue this dialogue, and to resume meetings in order to complete the necessary measures that ensure the implementation and activation of this agreement.

He mentioned that the head of the Supreme Council of State, Khaled Al-Mishri, confirmed that the discussion on the track of the executive authority is currently postponed, and the discussion now started about the sovereign positions.
