On Friday, the National Oil Corporation denounced some attempts to hold secret talks to achieve narrow political gains, and we will not allow oil to be used as a “bargaining chip” in any discussions.
In a statement published by the Corporation on its official page, Mustafa Sanallah, president of the Corporation, said that the negotiations that the Corporation is carrying out in coordination with the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj and the international community, include an initiative and a clear and transparent plan that cannot be bypassed or skipped in any way.
Sanalla added that he will not accept or turn a blind eye to individual practices that try to politicize oil, the sustenance of the Libyans, and the only viable way is to move forward with a Libyan sovereign solution.
Sanallah clarified that the lifting of force majeure is linked to the condition of transparency coupled with security arrangements with the knowledge of the National Oil Corporation, stressing that force majeure cannot be lifted in light of the chaos and irregular negotiations taking place.
Sanalla indicated that the corporation has more than fifty tanks filled with hundreds of thousands of tons of highly flammable and explosive hydrocarbons, reaffirming that force majeure cannot be lifted in light of the presence of foreign mercenaries inside these facilities.
Sanalla affirmed that the Corporation: will not allow the “Wagner” mercenaries to play a role in the oil sector, and that the lifting of force majeure is linked to a condition of transparency coupled with security arrangements with the knowledge of the Corporation .
It is worth noting that Haftar’s militias are still closing the ports and oil fields since the 17th of last January, causing losses of more than 9 billion dollars, according to data from the National Oil Corporation.
