Libyan Crimes Watch: Civilians in Haftar’s prisons are subjected to torture and death threats.

The Libyan Crimes Watch said on Sunday that civilians arrested in the eastern region are subjected to beatings, psychological torture, electric shocks, death threats, and confessions made under torture.

The organization added, in a report on its official page, that among the violations that occur in the Eastern Region is the arrest and detention of the detained civilian lawyer, the “Military Court President Salim Ferjani” detained a lawyer after a dispute with him in the hall, and lawyer Adnan al-Arafi was arrested last March for 15 days, and was referred to the “Benghazi Military Prosecution” , and in the same month, the lawyer, “Siraj Al-Fitouri,” was threatened and denied entry to the military trial and detention by a military group affiliated to “Al-Farjani”.

The organization called for the necessity to stop referring civilians to military trials, regardless of the charges, and to try civilians before competent and impartial courts, while ensuring fair procedures for litigation.

It is worth noting that the Libyan Crime Watch Organization revealed on Sunday in a report that the number of civilians were sentenced to secret and unannounced sentences without the presence of their families of or organizations in the past year, 2019, 15 civilians of whom 11 were sentenced to death and the rest were long prison terms.
