On Wednesday, a member of the Constitutional Commission, Daou Al-Mansoori, said that during the meeting with the President of the Presidency Council, Fayez Al-Sarraj, accompanied by a number of members of the Commission an agreement was reached, on the need to end the constitutional process, as stipulated in the constitutional declaration.
Al-Mansouri added, in a statement to Arraed, that in the event that the referendum failed to take place, the draft constitution prepared by the elected body could be considered a constitutional base on which parliamentary and presidential elections are based.
Al-Mansouri added that the commission has called for workshops related to the draft constitution, and to facilitate some logistical issues related to the work of the constituent body to draft the constitution.
It is worth noting that the members of the Constituent Assembly for drafting the constitution voted in April 2016 to approve the draft constitution by majority, in a session at the headquarters of the commission in the city of Al-Bayda, and handed it over to Parliament in 2017 to prepare a law for a referendum.
