The mission welcomes the appointment of three investigators for a fact finding mission in Libya.

The United Nations Support Mission in Libya, Saturday, welcomed the announcement of the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, Michelle Bachelet, to appoint three distinguished independent investigators for the fact-finding mission in Libya.

In a statement, the mission affirmed its strong support for a comprehensive and impartial investigation into the alleged violations and abuses of international human rights law and international human law, since the beginning of 2016.

The mission called on the concerned Libyan parties to provide full cooperation with the investigative team as an essential step towards ending impunity and preventing further human rights violations and abuses in Libya.

It is worth noting that the Ministry of Justice has submitted a formal application to the International Criminal Court; To send a fact finding mission after finding mass graves and criminal cases committed by Haftar’s militias before their defeat in southern Tripoli and the city of Tarhuna.
