American Associated Press : Haftar is looking for immunity to protect him from the lawsuits filed against him in Virginia.

The American Associated Press revealed, Saturday, that Haftar is looking for immunity of a head of state in the two civil cases filed against him in Virginia, in the United States, for war crimes and crimes against humanity.

According to its official website, the agency said that Haftar’s lawyer said in the petitions filed before the Federal Court in Virginia that he deserves the status of the head of state, which will make him immune from civil lawsuits according to US law.

The agency added that the attorney for the plaintiffs rejected the idea that Haftar deserves the immunity of the head of state, as his lawyers relied on a phone call between him and Trump at the beginning of his aggression against Tripoli, explaining that their words have no weight.

The American newspaper “New York Times” reported last June that a court in the United States of America received from two Libyan families the file of their case on one of the crimes Haftar committed against them and their families and property, demanding compensation of $ 85 million.

It is worth noting that a court in the United States issued a summons to Khalifa Haftar in his capacity as an American citizen in November last year, on a civil lawsuit filed by a number of Libyan citizens on charges of killing and indiscriminate bombing of civilians in Tripoli.
