On Thursday, the US House of Representatives Foreign Affairs Committee approved the Stability Support Act in Libya in an amended form.
The provisions of the law provide for reports within a period not exceeding 90 days on the nature of the role played by several countries through their interventions in Libya, and a detailed report on the nature of Russian activities and goals in Libya.
The proposed law states that a detailed report should be submitted on the nature of the crimes committed by the Haftar militias, especially with regard to its relationship with the Assad regime in Syria.
The amendment included articles related to the need to impose sanctions on foreign personalities who contribute to fueling stability by involving foreign countries into intervention in Libya, and in committing war crimes and human rights violations.
The amendment clauses included items on supporting the political track seeking democracy and elections in Libya, in addition to working with international financial institutions to promote the Libyan economic recovery, improving financial management in the public sector and working to recover stolen Libyan funds.
