Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoglu said on Monday that the blockade of Haftar militia for oil wealth in Libya deprives the people of an important source of income, and leaving Libya at the mercy of Haftar is a big mistake.
In his article, published by the American newspaper “Politico”, Oglu affirmed that the ban on supplying arms to Libya is applied only to the reconciliation government, not to Haftar, noting that the European Union has failed to act in a manner consistent with its basic values regarding the Libyan crisis, as he put it.
Oglu added that the UAE, Egypt and Russia continue to support Haftar, which is harmful to the hopes of achieving peace and stability in Libya, explaining that Turkish support to the reconciliation government prevented a humanitarian catastrophe in Tripoli, which would have extended its impact to the countries of the European continent.
It is reported that Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavoyuzoglu said, Monday, in an interview with the Turkish “TRT” channel, that the reconciliation government is preparing for a military operation to liberate the city of Sirte, in the event that Haftar militias do not withdraw from it.
