Interior Minister Fathi Bashagha discussed with the US government the plan to disband and merge militias in western and eastern Libya after the end of the aggression on Tripoli.

The American delegation stressed its opposition to all foreign interference in Libya, and the need for an immediate ceasefire and a return to the security and political negotiations supervised by the United Nations.

The two parties have made it clear that armed groups trying to spoil the political process or engage in criminal acts will be subject to international sanctions.

The United States was represented at this meeting by the First Director of the National Security Council, Major General Miguel Correa, Deputy Assistant Secretary of State Henry Woster, and Deputy Director of the African-American Command, Dean Stephen Demiliano, in addition to the American Ambassador to Libya, Richard Norland.
