On Sunday, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Mohamed al-Qiblawi said that the GNA would establish its full authority over all Libyan territory before resuming the political process.
Al-Qeblawi added in an interview with RFI Radio France that the government has recovered all the regions in the West, except Tarhuna, which is the last resort of Khalifa Haftar, noting that controlling Tarhuna will be an important development that will allow us to pass to the second stage of this war.
Al-Qiblawi emphasized that Haftar is not a partner in any future political process and his presence will be considered an obstacle in achieving this, pointing out that President of the Presidential Council Fayez al-Sarraj has appealed to politicians, the elite and the eastern tribes to present a political project to reach a final solution to this crisis, and called on Libyans from all stripes to develop a common political initiative that can end this war.
In a related context, Al-Qiblawi pointed out that the United States can only be an ally of the Libyan people in its approach to achieving stability and development in Libya, as it contributed in 1951 to the independence of Libya and as a legitimate government we expect more from the United States, and that Washington occupies its natural place in the development of Libya, and fulfill the dream of Libyans in a civil and democratic country.
It is worth noting that the military forces besiege Tarhuna, and are currently clashing with Haftar militias inside Tripoli International Airport, the last focus of Haftar militias on the administrative borders of Tripoli.
