“Transport Ministry” condemns the targeting of Maitiqa airport by Haftar militias , and confirms that one aircraft is out of work.

On Saturday, the Ministry of Transport condemned what it described as a “brutal bombardment” of Haftar militia on Maitiqa Civil Airport this morning.

The ministry said, in a statement on its official page, that the bombing resulted in severe damage to civilian aircrafts, and led to them being out of work, including the 320 plane, which was preparing to take off to Spain to bring back the Libyans stranded there.

The ministry confirmed the burning of fuel tanks and fire engines, some service cars and supply cars, and the destruction of parts of the passenger station and the parking area for the aircrafts , as a result of the bombing, requesting the international and regional organizations working in the fields of airports, civil aviation and air transport to condemn and denounce the aggression.

The ministry said that this targeting of the airport will cost the Libyan people an enormous amount of money to return it to what it was and disrupt the development programs that the Airport Authority is seeking to implement to increase the operational capacity of the airport, which provides air transport service to all Libyans and non-Libyans, and is the only civilian airport in Tripoli.

It is worth noting that the militia of Haftar targeted the airport of Maitiqa and the Qasr bin Ghashir area with more than 80 missiles, hitting a number of aircrafts and a storage tank for aviation fuel and causing other damage.
