United Nations: Libya is at increased risk from corona due to lack of security and weak health system.

The United Nations warned, on Wednesday, that Libya is extremely vulnerable to the spread of the virus, given the levels of insecurity, the weak health system, and the high numbers of migrants, refugees and internally displaced persons.

This came in the words of a spokesman for the Secretary-General, Stephen Dougrick, during a press conference held via a television circuit, at the United Nations Headquarters in New York, in which he announced the suspension of a number of its humanitarian operations in Libya, due to the continued military attacks in Tripoli.

Dougrik added that the ongoing clashes and restrictive measures in Libya due to the Coruna epidemic impede the arrival of aid to the humanitarian organization, according to the Turkish Anatolia News Agency.

Dougrik said that international humanitarian agencies have reported to the United Nations that they are unable to send trucks to provide long-distance assistance due to the curfew, and thus many programs, including those in the 2020 Libya Humanitarian Response Plan, have been suspended, delayed or reduced. .

It is worth noting that the Haftar militia intensified days ago its attacks on civilian and residential neighborhoods in Tripoli, which caused the death and injury of dozens of civilians, especially after the announcement of the spokesman for Haftar Ahmed Al-Mismari, that they accepted the cease-fire twice, the first on the 12th of last January and the second in the 21st of March.
