Italian magazine “Internationale” reported that the French support for Hifter hampered the efforts and role of the former UN envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salama.
The newspaper said, Hifter also depends on Russia’s support, as it sent him mercenaries for his war on Tripoli, Egypt and the UAE, who participated with drones and warplanes.
The newspaper pointed out that Salama could not do anything against the ambitions of Libya’s external powers, as he has the authority granted to him by countries belonging to the United Nations.
It is worth noting that the Elysee Palace announced, on Monday, that French President Macron met with Hifter in Paris, Hifter assured his host of his commitment to sign the ceasefire provided that the reconciliation government adheres to it.
