German Foreign Ministry: The purpose of the Berlin conference is broader than the Moscow conference, which was aimed at achieving a ceasefire.

The German Foreign Ministry spokesman announced on Wednesday that the purpose of the Berlin conference is “broader than the Moscow conference, which was aimed at reaching a ceasefire.

He added that his country hopes to make all international players use their influence to push for progress in the Libyan peace talks, setting ambitions for a peace conference hosted by Berlin on Sunday.

In a related context, German Chancellor Angela Merkel has decided, in agreement with the Secretary-General of the United Nations, that the invitation to participate in the conference on Libya in Berlin is at the level of heads of government and countries.

It is worth noting that Berlin invited Fayez Asarraj, Prime Minister of the Accord, the Libyan National Army commander, Khalifa Hifter, and representatives of the United States, Russia, Britain, Turkey, Egypt, China, Italy, the United Nations and the European Union.
