Italian Defense Minister Elisabetta Trenta confirmed on Tuesday that the Sofia naval operation had given its country a great advantage: working with the Libyan Coast Guard.
Trenta said that the process has been reduced to a certain extent, but did not die, noting that the process was an exceptional tool to work with the Libyan side, according to the Italian agency “Aki”.
It is noteworthy that the European Council of Ministers
announced earlier, that the crews of Operation “Sophia” will follow
the observations from the air only, and will work to complete the training of
elements of the Coast Guard and the Libyan navy.
