The Supreme Council of the State, on Monday, denounced what some members of the Lebanese “Amal” movement had done to offend the flag of the Libyan state at the headquarters of the Arab Economic Summit, which is to be held in Beirut.
In a statement, the Supreme Council urged the Libyan foreign ministry to freeze the diplomatic relations with Lebanon, surprised by the offence made to the flag of the Libyan state, whose activists claimed their opposition to the actions of the former regime, according to the official page of the council.
The Council called upon the Arab League to take a clear stance on this incident and to exclude Lebanon from any Arab event until the Lebanese authorities take responsibility, abide by diplomatic norms, and to take deterrent measures to ensure that such actions are not repeated.
Elements of the “Amal” movement led by Lebanese Parliament Speaker “Nabih Berri” landed on Sunday, too down the flag of Libya from the mast and replaced it by the movement’s flag.
The former regime is accused of hiding the Lebanese Shiite leader, “Musa Al-Sadr” in the late seventies of the last century, whose fate is still unknown.
