Sawan Ends the Controversy and Declares Not Running for the Presidency of the Party

President of Justice and Construction Party Mohamed Sawan announced that he will not run for the Party’s presidential elections during the second general conference scheduled for next January.

In a statement to the Arraedlg, Sawan stressed the necessity of holding the general conference of the party in its scheduled time, pointing out that the executive leadership of the party has been arranging it for months to ensure that the conference is held on time.

He explained that the Supreme Commission is scheduled to meet next week to address some of the simple procedural aspects of the regulation, noting that the Commission is the one responsible for postponing before.

The chairman of the Justice and Building Party said that the party’s statute allows for two consecutive sessions of the president, indicating that the president has the right to call for holding the general conference.

In the past two days, social media outlets have reported that a number of party members are seeking to extend another term for the party president and postpone the general conference.
