Omran: The Results of the Palermo Conference Remains a Commitment of the Libyan Parties to Implement

A member of the Constituent Assembly of Libya Nadia Omran, on Wednesday, said that the final statement of the Palermo conference and the positive points it holds remains on the commitment of the Libyan parties to implement it.

In a statement to ArraedLg, Omran explained that one of the most positive points in the statement is:

Emphasizing the importance of the constitutional framework and the need to achieve it, encouraging the House of Representatives to issue a referendum law, and respecting the results of the elections, and also the accountability of the tacklers of the electoral process.

Omran stressed that the role of the international community lies in urging these parties to abide by the outcome of the conference, otherwise it will be useless as its predecessors.

The Italian city of Palermo hosted on 12 and 13 November a conference bringing all the Libyan parties under the auspices of Italy and the United Nations, and an international and regional presence, to discuss the Libyan crisis.
