The Italian Foreign Minister Enzo Mauviro Milanese said that the leader of the Karama forces, Khalifa Hifter, has assured them that he would attend the Palermo conference on Libya which is scheduled for November.
“The meeting will be held in the capital of Sicily on November 12 and 13, with the participation of key players from the inside and outside of Libya,” Milanese said in a press statement on the sidelines of a conference in Florence, Italy. In particular, to ensure that the meeting will be attended by Hifter, “fearing that his absence will kill any hopes of reaching a political settlement.”
The Italian Foreign Ministry confirmed the presence of the German Chancellor “Angela Merkel” at the Conference “Palermo” with high-level delegations from the United States, Russia, and France.
