PC and AFRICOM discuss developments of the political and security situation in Libya

The head of the Presidential Council (PC), Faiz Al-Sarraj discussed on Thursday with the commander of the US military command in Africa (AFRICOM), General Thomas Waldhauser the developments of the political and security situation in Libya and the recent developments in Tripoli.

During his meeting with Al-Sarraj in Tunis, Waldhauser confirmed AFRICOM’s follow-up to the terrorist groups and targeted them militarily in coordination with the Government of National Accord (GNA), praising the role played by the GNA to combat terrorism.

In turn, Al-Sarraj expressed his aspiration to expand strategic cooperation between Libya and the United States to include investment and development.

The AFRICOM leadership carried out several attacks on sites and gatherings of IS in Libya in agreement with the Presidential Council, the latest of which was an air strike targeting “a leader in IS.”
