European Union calls for respect of the ceasefire agreement in Tripoli

The European Union called on all concerned parties to fully respect the cease-fire agreement signed in the city of Zawiya and to implement all its conditions in the spirit of compromise.

The EU considered the cease-fire a step that would stop the violence, adding that they would continue to support the UN-led comprehensive mediation to find a lasting solution to the political crisis in Libya, the EU mission in Libya said.

The Union expected all Libyan legitimate actors to intensify their efforts to end the political transition and to build lasting democratic institutions capable of realizing the interests of all Libyans.

Zawiya meeting was attended by dignitaries, municipal councils and military leaders, sponsored by the United Nations Support Mission in Libya.
