Italy ready to give maximum support to PC, says Salvini

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister, Matteo Salvini expressed his country’s readiness to provide maximum support to the recognized authorities in Libya on Monday.

In a press statement quoted by AKI news agency, Salvini warned that the interventions of others who have other economic interests should not prevail over peace.

“I express the utmost support to the recognized Libyan authorities, and I am grateful to the Libyan Coast Guard, which continues to do its work positively,” Salvini said.

He added “I hope that the cease-fire will take place soon, otherwise there is a great danger standing at the door.”

Tripoli has been witnessing days of armed confrontations, resulting in the deaths and injuries of civilians and displacement of the population from the scene of clashes.
