I visit Libya to affirm the Paris Agreement, says French FM

French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Laudrian said on Monday that his visit to Libya was aimed at affirming the Paris accord, overcoming obstacles to the democratic process and holding elections according to the agreement.

Laudrian discussed with the head of the Presidential Council (PC), Faiz Al-Saraj in Tripoli the illegal immigration file, where Al-Serraj confirmed his total rejection of the opening of centers to receive immigrants on Libyan territory.

For his part, Al-Saraj affirmed the commitment of the GNA to the democratic path in Libya and to work to create the appropriate atmosphere for the elections by providing support and facilities to the High National Elections Commission.

The head of the GNA stressed the need for other parties to abide by the electoral entitlement, to prepare the constitutional framework for conducting it on time and to end the method of maneuvering that prevailed in previous periods.

Libyan parties agreed in Paris to hold presidential and parliamentary elections in December, preceded by a referendum on the Constitution in September this year.
