First Italian official in new government arrives in Tripoli on Monday

Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Interior Minister Matteo Salvini will visit Tripoli on Monday to discuss illegal immigration with officials from the Government of National Accord (GNA).

Italian news agency AKI reported on Saturday that Salavini’s visit to Tripoli would be swift, the first of an Italian official in the new government, explaining that he would meet with the head of the Presidential Council (PC), Faiz Al-Sarraj and a number of officials of the GNA.

Salvini said earlier that his visit to Libya would not only discuss the immigration issue but would include economic partnership and investment in the construction of roads, infrastructure and hospitals between Rome and Tripoli.
