NOC evacuates employees from Ras Lanuf and Es Sider ports due to clashes

The National Oil Corporation (NOC) evacuated on Thursday staff from the Ras Lanuf and Es Sidra ports for safety reasons following armed clashes in the region.

A source from the NOC, who preferred not to be named, said the losses of oil production after the clashes exceeded 240 thousand barrels, confirming the postponement of an oil tanker’s entry, which was supposed to arrive today to the Es Sidra port.

The source added that the National Oil Corporation board of directors and its affiliated companies are following the situation closely, calling for the prosecution of all individuals or political groups trying to seize Libyan oil installations, impose a blockade on production operations, and use the institution to achieve its objectives.

The clashes with heavy weapons and air raids broke out, at dawn Thursday, in the Ras Lanuf tank area between forces loyal to Haftar, and another group trying to control the Oil Crescent led by Ibrahim Al-Jidran.
