UNICEF: Nearly 500 schools affected by conflict in Libya

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) reported on Tuesday that 489 schools were affected by the “conflict” in Libya, which negatively affected the education of about 260 thousand students.

The UNICEF said that the latest violence in the country has forced many schools to close in the cities of Derna and Sabha, adding that it has provided educational supplies to more than 37,000 children in affected areas since the beginning of the year.

The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) announced in January that 378 thousand children need assistance and protection in light of the “deterioration of the humanitarian situation in Libya.”
