HCS president says holding elections without a constitution is counterproductive

The president of the High Council of State (HCS), Khaled Al-Mashri said holding elections without a constitution means entering a fourth stage of transition that would lead to adverse results.

During his meeting with Italian Ambassador Giuseppe Peroni on Saturday to discuss developments in the political scene and the French initiative to resolve the crisis in Libya, Al-Mushri said he informed the French side of his position that elections would be successful in the event of having a referendum on the constitution before it.

On Wednesday, President of the HCS received an invitation from French President Emmanuel Macron to participate in the international conference on the Libyan issue.
