An armed group detained for planning military actions inside Tripoli

The Deterrent Agency to Combat Organized Crime and Terrorism announced on Monday the arrest of an armed group that was planning military operations inside the capital Tripoli in coordination with the Popular Front for the Liberation of Libya.

The Agency said on its official Facebook page, the group confessed after the initial investigations their intention to carry out sabotage operations inside Tripoli.

The Deterrent Agency confirmed that they had possession of weapons, ammunition and military plans to distribute them, adding that they have coordination with other cells in all the cities of Libya.

The Presidential Council issued a resolution last week giving the Deterrent Agency to Combat Organized Crime and Terrorism more powers, including tracking and monitoring of terrorist groups and criminal gangs and taking measures against them.
