UNSMIL express readiness to support referendum on constitution as soon as a referendum law is issued

The UN special envoy to Libya, Ghassan Salame said on Tuesday, the United Nations Support Mission in Libya (UNSMIL) is ready to support the referendum process on the constitution, when consensus is achieved on a law for the referendum.

Speaking at the African Union high level meeting on Libya, Salame said there were positive signs in Libya, such as a decline in violence, a large voter turnout and daily participation of citizens in the political consultations process, according to UNSMIL.

67 members the House of Representatives (HOR) expressed, in a statement on Monday, their rejection of UNSMIL statements, which is pushing the country into a fourth transitional stage is not based on the permanent constitution.
