Tripoli court postpones trial of five accused of smuggling fuel

Tripoli court postponed on Sunday, the trial of five suspects, of different nationalities, on charges of smuggling Libyan fuel, to the first of April.

The Ministry of Justice media office said, on its official page, the postponement of the trial of the accused in the case of the Maltese carrier seized by the Libyan navy off the coast of Libya was because of the absence of a translator to one of the accused.

The session was attended by the Ambassador of the Republic of Croatia to Egypt as the representative of his country in Libya; due to the presence of a Croatian accused among the defendants, according to the ministry’s media office.

The Libyan Coast Guard seized in August last year, the Maltese tanker “SoveviGNM” smuggling fuel in Libyan territorial waters.
