Joint AU,EU & UN committee on migration in Libya ends work in May

The special envoy of the chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission to Libya, Amira El Fadil announced that the tripartite illegal migration committee (African Union, United Nations and European Union) in Libya will end its work by the end of May.

El Fadil said in a press statement on Sunday the committee met in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa on Monday and discussed efforts to tackle illegal immigration.

The group managed to repatriate 14,000 migrants to their country of origin, and some 2,000 refugees to a third country, in cooperation with the AU, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) and the Office of the United Nations High Commission for Refugees (UNHCR).

The head of the Anti-illegal Immigration Agency closed Sooq Al-Ahd, Al-Quia and Al-Zawia Abi Isaa shelters; to reorganize the shelters in Libya.
