European Union (EU) High Representative for Foreign Policy, Federica Mogherini discussed on Tuesday with UN Refugee Agency (UNHCR) Commissioner, Filippo Grandi the crisis of illegal immigrants in Libya.
According to Anadolu news agency, Mogherini discussed with the UNHCR Commissioner the evacuation of 1,300 illegal immigrants by the EU and the UN from Libya and the possibility of implementing the evacuation operations in Niger.
Anadolu pointed out that more than 150,000 African migrants have tried to reach Europe by sea through Libya in the past three years.
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees has deported more than 1,000 illegal immigrants from Libya to different countries over the past three months.
