Al-Kufra airport Director General, Omar Qandil said on Tuesday, the airport is in danger of closure due to problems with the airport’s runway.
Qandil told ArraedLG on Tuesday, the air traffic is still ongoing, stressing the need to repair the landing strip “urgently”, so that flights to and from the airport does not stop.
The director of Al-Kufra airport, explained that contracts worth 95 million dinars signed in the past for the airport were not implemented because of the security situation in Libya, indicating that the Airports Authority allocated 5 million Libyan dinars; to maintain the runway.
Al-Kufra International Airport was closed for two years due to some security problems and was reopened last March.
