Libyan navy rescues 86 illegal immigrants

The Navy spokesman Ayoub Qassem said, the Tripoli coast guard rescued 86 illegal immigrants from 13 nationalities on board a rubber boat, on Saturday.

Qassem told ArraedLG among the rescuers were 9 children and 15 women, and that the rescue operation took place about 16 miles north of Abu Kammash area, northwest of Tripoli.

The migrants arrived at the Tripoli naval base and were provided with humanitarian and medical assistance before being handed over to the Anti-Illegal Immigration Agency at Tajoura shelter.

In mid-January, the navy rescued 234 migrants off the coasts of Zuwara and Malita.
