Commission for Human Rights in Libya: Benghazi bombing one of “worst terrorist crimes”

The National Commission for Human Rights in Libya (NCHRL) expressed, on Wednesday its strong condemnation of the twin terrorist bombing that took place in the surrounding area of Al-Radwan mosque in the Al-Salmany neighborhood in Benghazi.

In a statement, the NCHRL described the double bombing as one of the worst “heinous terrorist crimes,” noting that 41 people were killed and 80 wounded, mostly civilians, citing medical sources.

The committee stressed that addressing the terrorist organizations in Libya calls for ending the political and social division, in addition to achieving national reconciliation, especially in light of the growing number of fighters coming from outside Libya, according to the statement.

The NCHRL reiterated that direct attacks against civilians are prohibited under international humanitarian law and constitute war crimes.

A double explosion rocked Benghazi on Tuesday, killing dozens of people.
