South Benghazi Court: work of CDA is not subject to judiciary

The South Benghazi Court of First Instance ruled on Sunday that the work of the Constitutional Drafting Assembly (CDA) on the completion of the constitution draft is not subject to the judiciary, because the CSA was elected by the Libyan people.

Commenting on the verdict, CDA founding member, El-Hadi Bohamra, told ArraedLG on Monday that the ruling was “the right way” and that it was based on a “proper understanding” of the nature of the CDA’s work and its legal mandate.

Bohamra added that the members of the CDA are waiting, at the same time, the ruling of the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court to decide the case.

Some activists and lawyers filed a lawsuit in the South Benghazi of first instance court against the CDA.
